Nick + Kenzie // Ames, Iowa Wedding Photographer

Nick and Kenzie’s day was full of details, family, and friends that mean much to them. It was intimate and incredibly sweet! Even though our Iowa Fall has felt more like Spring, and poured for a few hours straight during the afternoon of their wedding, the rain couldn’t stop this love one bit. :)

We started off photography at the hotel where the girls were staying. Kenzie’s grandmother lent her the handkerchief that she carried down the aisle on her own wedding day! What a sweet tribute and “something borrowed.” Kenzie also had a magnificent pair of shoes to wear— not only did they help her be a little taller (Nick is super tall!) but they matched the colors of the day perfectly.

Although it sprinkled rain off and on during Kenzie & Nick’s first look and portraits, it began to POUR just as the bridal party arrived on campus! Thankfully, Iowa State University has plenty of gorgeous architecture. Gerdin was close to central campus, and where we ended up taking the wedding party portraits!

Since the rainstorm continued through the afternoon, we relocated family photos to Harvest Vineyard Church, where the wedding ceremony was to take place. After family pictures, the guests began to arrive and the wedding began!

Kenzie cried so many happy tears and it was the darn sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. She was just so overwhelmed with emotions about marrying her best friend! After a receiving line, we rounded up the wedding party and took a few more photos nearby. The bridal party was chilly and a little wet, but they were wonderful, regardless! Also, never ever mad about the light on rainy wedding days. *heart eyes*

Everyone drove over to the reception (Phil was in the wedding party and rode back with me—so fun to catch up with him, since I hadn’t seen him since he got married in June!) where snacks and drinks were already set up. The reception was held at Gatherings, in Nevada. It’s a gorgeous space and the food is to die for. :) If you haven’t eaten their catering, you haven’t done life right yet!

Congrats, Kenzie and Nick! I loved celebrating with you both— thank you for trusting me to photograph your day. I’m so thankful to know you guys! Enjoy Hawaii this week… I expect to see lots of photos in the future to drool over. ;)
