Wedding photography work typically slows down in the Midwest during winter. However, one thing that never goes out of season is having babies! (See what I did there!?) One of my sweet 2019 brides, Jenna, suggested me to this family of 5 on Facebook just last week. Turns out, Krista loved my work and enthusiasm for newborns, and invited me to come to their gorgeous home just outside Winterset and Des Moines. Typically, Monday mornings start calm and maybe I even stay in my sweatpants all day… but not this week! I even applied makeup before heading to meet newborn (4 day old!) baby Ledger.

In-home newborn photos are just the sweetest thing. Not only does it make it easy for mama, who’s just adjusting to life post-partum with a newborn, but it tells the story of the home + family that will help nurture this tiny human as they grow. I loved capturing photos around this modern house— huge windows that would make Joanna Gaines jealous didn’t hurt, either! Ledger’s two big brothers were super excited to hold him, and tell me all the star wars facts. Haha!! Such a fun morning with this energetic family!
