Audrey & Jordan knew they wanted to get married in 2020, so nothing (even a pandemic!) could stop their engagement in April. However, like every other couple this year, their wedding plans shifted. Instead of a Chicago wedding, they picked Audrey’s family’s farm near Iowa City as a venue. It was simple and stunning… see for yourself!
View this sweet country-rustic wedding day in Story City! Full of gorgeous laughter, a stunning lace wedding dress, French blue suits, and bridesmaids in flowy burgundy wine gowns… you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into a most celebratory wedding!
Clover Barn has been my dream wedding venue since Kim & her husband built it back in 2017. I even blogged about it when I visited in 2018! However, none of my brides chose it as a venue. It wasn’t until early 2020, when Kim’s younger daughter, Sierra, got engaged, did I even have a chance. And let me tell you… it was worth the wait. This wedding was INCREDIBLE, full of beautiful details, and even kinder people. So much love for this couple and day!
Are you or anyone you know looking for a wedding venue in Des Moines because NOAH’S went bankrupt!? I’ve got a list of suggestions for you, many of whom are going above and beyond to help. I’m also running a wedding photography deal for any couples getting married in 2020 who had to change dates due to this unfortunate event. And, even if you’re not a part of this entire crazy thing… and just wanted to know of some great event and wedding venues in the West Des Moines area, I’ve got you covered, too!!!
I’ve long wanted to be a photographer in a styled shoot. When I met Lynda this fall, we started talking about the idea of collaborating. Autumn was super busy for me— half the time I wondered if I’d ever catch up on sleep! But I made it to November, and Lynda pulled together a great group of Des Moines area wedding vendors to style a shoot on a Sunday afternoon. It was chilly and grey outside, but inside the barn venue we warmed up with French-inspired snacks and wine and laughter.
One of the biggest parts (and first parts) of planning a wedding day boils down to venue. Without a wedding venue, you really can't get married. ;) And a venue can completely set and influence the aesthetic and theme of your day! So, I'd say that picking a venue is both vital and important. Not to mention, a pretty large amount of your wedding budget will go into renting one.
