There’s nothing better than a quiet evening downtown with a senior and my camera. Especially if Iowa’s boasting one of her stunning sunsets!! Allison and I got so lucky, and I love how her photos turned out.

Ryan’s mom hired me to take photos of her son, wanting to capture this season in his life. And it was such a perfect evening! Ryan brought his best self & smile, and we enjoyed wandering Des Moines alleyways and rooftops, ending with some portraits of him with his car & Han Solo’s ‘sabacc’ dice! You know I love a good Star Wars reference, so this is a senior session I’ll long remember!
Enjoy some of the best views of DSM with Rachel & Nate’s engagement photos!!
I love when friends connect me with their friends… especially when those new friends have a boat! ;) Jake and Nicole graciously invited me through my friend Michelle to hangout with them on July 4th last year, and we had a great day on and in the water. Now they’re expecting a sweet babe, and wanted to capture some photos during this season of maternity.
I’m so thrilled to get to know these two - they’re also ISU Alumni (go Cyclones!) and we had so much fun hanging out on a warm October evening this year. Abby and Thomas will be getting married on campus, in Ames, next year and I’m just so excited to get to capture their love then, too!
Downtown engagement photos with two humans in love— I’m a fan! Sign me up for this life forever!
It’s so hard to narrow down my top 5 places for happy hour (or drinks in general) in the Des Moines area! But, I think I’ve done it… and I’m sharing with you so that you can also enjoy some of the incredible local spots for a brew or craft cocktail (or mocktail!). Enjoy, and make sure to share with your friends— everyone benefits!! <3
Occasionally I get a request for some updated headshots or branding photography work. It’s a lot of fun to get to meet a variety of entrepreneurs and frankly, people often looking forward to updating their photos!
Join me and take a peek into one of the most fun engagement sessions you’ve EVER seen! Abbie + Ben met me downtown Des Moines for some urban and rooftop photos. It was the perfect evening + I wish I could relive it over and over again!!
Cierra jumped in front of my camera with the ease of a gal familiar with modeling. She did so well, and we had fun (despite the humidity!) taking photos around the Des Moines Art Center and downtown. This session had a good mix of nature + city vibes, and I can’t wait to see which ones her mom hangs up on the wall!
Emma’s seniors turned out so well! It helps that we’re friends & she seemed at ease in front of the camera. We laughed a lot, and enjoy two wonderful evenings— one downtown Des Moines, the other out at Brenton Arboretum for some gorgeous nature photos. Enjoy!
Claire found me through Instagram (of course!!) and booked me for her summer senior photos. We clicked immediately, and spent a few hours laughing together around the downtown Des Moines area. Claire attends high school in Huxley, at Ballard High, where she’ll be a senior this year! She plans to study music and is going to be great at her future pursuits—I have a feeling that any high schooler who can rock a blazer can do anything!
This session was full of great light and lots of laughter, and even some magical wildflower fields! Hannah giggled at all my dumb jokes, and made our time together a blast! We started downtown in Des Moines, canvassing a wide range of locations, before heading up to the lake for some dreamy sunset photos. Enjoy a few favorites from Hannah’s senior photo session!
I uploaded a few new photos, along with some previous work, because I’m having such a blast with the class of 2021! Summer is my favorite season to take senior photos —maybe this will show you why! The light is soft, we get late sunsets and lots of pretty wildflowers. Plus, it might be hot… but at least it isn’t cold! After all, Iowa seems to spend half the year in winter. ;) Enjoy some stunning senior portraits and email me if you’re in need of your own senior pictures here in Des Moines, Ankeny, Ames, or even Cedar Falls or Dubuque!
Mary Beth and Dan planned their dream wedding day for the last Friday in April. We chatted on the phone in November, and again in person in March. What none of us knew was that a global pandemic would radically change their wedding day plans… but never, ever, their marriage plans. ;) Instead of a large wedding ceremony at St Ambrose with a reception full of friends at the Tea Room, these two held an intimate ceremony. But, even their closest friends couldn’t be stopped from cheering outside the church. Click through to see more of this sweet spring wedding in downtown Des Moines!
A high school senior guy’s photos that incorporate electric guitar, Mr. Rogers, and skateboarding!? What else could you want!!! Max is one of the most cool high school dudes I’ve had the joy to photograph and we had a blast exploring downtown Des Moines on a warm and overcast afternoon in the fall!
Authentic and fun portraits remain my goal for any senior or portrait session, and I think we accomplished that with these photos! Kylie has no professional modeling experience— she just trusted me and went along with all my goofy ideas! I’m so thankful for that, because we really created some fun photos of this season of her life. Plus, she looks KILLER in that felt hat, don’t you think!? Downtown Des Moines girl senior sessions will forever be my favorite thing to photograph!
Kyle, Kenzie, and I had a wonderful evening in downtown Des Moines, photographing their engagement photos. These two made conversation and shooting a breeze. Enjoy some of my favorites from this joy-filled engagement session!
Engagement photos in a park near downtown Des Moines Iowa. Buttery, summer light. And lots of laughter! Take a peek…
Gabby and David share a passion for life. They met in college, dated for two years, and got engaged in the fall of 2018! This year has been full for the two of them, working towards graduation and planning a wedding together. We have met up multiple times to talk about wedding timelines and photography, but we finally made it to spring when we could shoot their engagement photos! It was the perfect spring evening, and these two did a wonderful job getting each other to laugh and smile. :)
