2019. WHAT A YEAR! It flew by, and held such a range of joys and hardships. This past year showed to be my busiest year yet, full of so many wonderful weddings, engagement sessions, family and senior photo shoots, and much more. Looking back over the hundreds of thousands of photos I’ve taken brings me warm fuzzy feelings. Long days on my feet are well worth the sweet memories I get to capture with my camera!
Des Moines weddings can’t be beat. We have so many stunning wedding venues in the area — from barns to elegant locales both downtown and near the Jordan Creek area. Not only did I discover my new favorite venue (Harpor’s Vineyard… marry me!?) but I also had the privilege to photograph weddings twice in Pella, Cedar Rapids three times, Fort Collins in Colorado, Minneapolis, and even back in my old stomping grounds of Ames twice!
To each couple who chose me out of the hundreds of other qualified photographers, thank you. I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude. Each one of you played out answered prayer, and have made my life and heart so full. Many of you started out strangers and have become friends! You’ve invited me to dine with your families, dance with your closest people, and cry with your mother’s during the toasts after dinner. No matter if you had rain or sun, snow or sleet, I am convinced that each wedding day was perfectly meant for you and beautiful in all the nuances of the season.
Looking at these images, it’s wonderful to see each couple’s personality shine though the style of decor, dress, edits, and emotions. I’ve photographed more reserved and shy couples, and outgoing “let’s do it all!” brides and grooms. Regardless, each day became a treasured memory in my year of 2019. May you each look back fondly on the seasons held forever in the last year of this decade with much joy and love! (And please please please feel free to share my name and work with your friends. i’m still booking 2020 weddings and would absolutely love to work with any friends or family members of my past couples & clients!!)
Always, Amelia <3
