Over the many years I have held a camera, I’ve been able to be part of so many fun surprises, from a baby name not revealed to anyone besides the couple, or announcing a new pregnancy. But the most nerve-wracking and yet fun secret to be privy to? Proposals!!

Most couples get engaged knowing some details about their future together. Sometimes, they’ve already got a wedding date + venue locked in, while others just know that they’re moving towards marriage but everything else is a bit more fluid. Regardless, getting to help use my expertise and proposal experience during a session like this is fun. (You can see my very first proposal session here- almost 10 years ago now!) And of course, I’m always a little jittery myself! ;)

Logan and I set up a call, not long after I arrived back in Iowa from my 3 months abroad in Korea. He clearly had made many plans with Shelby’s desires in mind, and couldn’t stop gushing about her. These two are so vividly in love, and not only that, but the most considerate and sweet people to each other (and everyone else)! When we had our 3rd weekend of snow in …3 weeks 😳 I was curious how this would play out. But ever steadfast, Logan insisted they drive to Des Moines from Cedar Rapids to finish out Shelby’s birthday celebrations with lunch at her favorite sushi spot, and a walk inside the cozy and colorful Des Moines Botanical Gardens. You’ll notice his attention to detail, even packing a blanket to cover up the florescent pink bench!!! (He also emailed me a map of the possible walking path from their entrance to proposal spot…man thought of EVERYTHING!) I’ll let the photos taken tell the rest of the story. :) Congrats again to these two special humans!!

(And if you, dear reader, are interested in your own proposal photos, send an email my way here.)
