Dustings of snow make even the coldest day prettier, and I secretly love the chance to get to capture your lives in EVERY season - even winter! Click through to enjoy some of Christine & Trevor’s magical woodland engagement session in one of my favorite Des Moines parks.
A winter tromp in the woods is good for one’s mental, physical, and apparently- creative!- health. I wandered around a newly discovered park near my home on a cold, sunny afternoon and decided that this was indeed the perfect location for an editorial session, inspired by the JCrew catalogs of days gone by. The only thing that would have made this shoot better? Some rouge sheep (or Highland cows!) and green Hunter wellies!!
Alli and Clint are fun- they don’t take themselves too seriously, and it’s no surprise to me that they decided to fall in love and get married. ;) I’m so excited to get to hang out with them again this weekend… this time for their WEDDING!! in an airplane hangar, no less. It’ll be amazing!!
Des Moines boasts beautiful scenery in all seasons, and can be a wonderfully romantic place. It’s no surprise that people enjoy spending time with their loves here. Click through to see my 5 top spots to propose to your person!
I love these two- life is exponentially more fun with them around! Lo & Wiz light up any room, and it’s a joy to know them and get to capture their love. Enjoy some highlights from their engagement photos!
Snowy winter photos are always so pretty (but so cold hahaha). Thankfully, we had a decently warm afternoon in December to sneak these photos in! The sunshine didn’t hurt, either. :) Enjoy highlights from this session just outside of the Des Moines metro!
Fall engagement photos seem to be the most popular thing… good thing it is such a wonderful time of year, and this fall we had lots of good color! :) Enjoy Erin & Nathan’s engagement photos!!
Some beautiful fall engagement photos in West Des Moines for your enjoyment!!
Maddi and Ryan met me at one of my favorite locations in Iowa- Ledges State Park!- for their engagement photos. We had the PERFECT summer evening… no clouds, and a light breeze to keep the humidity off! Highly recommend going to Ledges on a Monday, as there are barely any people around. You are not ready for the adorable couple that is Annie & Riley!! We had a great time enjoying the sunshine and wild sunset at Water Works Park in the heart of Des Moines. This location never disappoints!! And neither, apparently, do my couples. 😍
Josh and Haley invited me to Minneapolis, Minnesota to take some engagement photos of them… with an airplane!! And we also were surprised to find out Mother Nature wanted to join, and brought the snow. A perfect January day in the Midwest, right!? Enjoy!
Enjoy Wendy + Drake’s sweet engagement photos around the Des Moines metro!
I loved getting to explore downtown Waterloo with these two— they just moved “back” there… Mallory grew up in CF, and she and Aaron met in college at UNI! So, how fitting that these two will begin their married life in the Cedar Valley again.
I grew up in Cedar Falls with Laura’s family. I honestly can’t remember a time in Iowa without knowing them! So it was a fun surprise to get an email from Laura, saying that she’d love to have me photograph her wedding to Andrew. Click the post to read more.
A girl from Iowa and a guy from Idaho meet during college and after graduation and grad school and long distance, settle in San Diego… where he proposes! They roadtrip to see her family in Iowa, and get engagement photos done on a magical summery evening. Click to see more sweet engagement pictures!

Whitney and Daniel waited SO patiently throughout the month of April for the weather to warm up and things to settle down with COVID to schedule engagement photos. (We actually planned to take them in April, but pushed photos back to May… and honestly I’m so glad we did because we had the MOST gorgeous night!) You’re going to love this couple. They’re so much fun, and it’s going to be a blast celebrating their wedding in October!!!
Do you need a break from the news and social media!? Here’s an idea to brighten up your social distancing or self-quarantine on this Monday!! Put on some Hawaiian music, switch your white noise machine to the “water/waves” sound, and scroll through this cute and romantic engagement session on the beach in Kauai, Hawaii!
This fun and casual winter engagement session might just be a favorite forever. Not only are Kalen + Emileigh two of my favorite humans, but we had a blast exploring Des Moines and Jester Park together. Keep an eye out next month for more photos of these two bubbly humans— they get married in March!
