I’m a sucker for a heartfelt outdoor ceremony and elegant indoor wedding reception, and Abby & Thomas’ wedding day had both! Iowa State University’s campanile was the perfect backdrop, the rain held off until just after the ceremony, and all in all, this was the perfect start to a beautiful marriage!
Ryan’s mom hired me to take photos of her son, wanting to capture this season in his life. And it was such a perfect evening! Ryan brought his best self & smile, and we enjoyed wandering Des Moines alleyways and rooftops, ending with some portraits of him with his car & Han Solo’s ‘sabacc’ dice! You know I love a good Star Wars reference, so this is a senior session I’ll long remember!
Marissa and Moose are such a dynamic couple. It’s always so fun to see couples who have known each other for a while - these two go back to middle school! But you’ll have to click the blog title to head into the post to read their actual story. ;) I can’t wait to capture their Clear Lake wedding day this fall!
Comfort and Devin’s story is just starting, and it was so touching to witness their marriage vows & tender love. I’ve only barely had a chance to know them, since Comfort only arrived back to the USA in late fall, but every interaction I’ve had shows me that these two have what it takes for not only a long, but loving, thriving, and community-centered marriage!
This winter blessed us with mild temps and little snow until almost mid-January, meaning that the late December and early January engagement sessions were easily able to be outdoors! Rachel and Simon brought so much energy to their session, and the sun brought gorgeous golden hour & a little extra warmth. It’ll be the best day, celebrating these two + their vows in summertime!
The sweetest couple, Kirstin and Sean, planned their dream wedding day for back home in Indiana. They invited me to come along for the journey, and I’m so very thankful that we got to celebrate their love on the most gorgeous early fall day at the historic Black Iris Estate!!
Alex has a fresh, modern style so we picked some of the classic Des Moines locations for her senior photos. I loved gettin got hang out with her and the whole family, and sure hope I get to see them again in a few years! :)
Two souls, bound by time and love- married in late spring on a perfectly wonderful afternoon. Surrounded by family and friends, they laughed, wiped away happy tears, and danced far into the night. See more of Erin and Andrew’s vibrant Glen Oaks wedding on the blog!
I love nothing more than a sweet lifestyle session in an early 1900s apartment! Clara and Eva called this space home for a year while living together, and it was so special to capture them (and cat Puddin’) in this gorgeous Sherman Hill building. Let me know if you’d like to book your own lifestyle session here!
This couple chose Jasper Winery as the backdrop for their colorful late summer wedding and I couldn’t have loved it more!! Not only do I have the pleasure of sharing their wedding photos, but I get to call them friends. Click through to see the most beautiful Indonesian-American wedding I’ve seen!
Alli and Clint are fun- they don’t take themselves too seriously, and it’s no surprise to me that they decided to fall in love and get married. ;) I’m so excited to get to hang out with them again this weekend… this time for their WEDDING!! in an airplane hangar, no less. It’ll be amazing!!
Piper is so fun & I loved getting to know her over coffee, and spend an evening with her and mom exploring Des Moines. We started her senior photos downtown, and headed to a nature park for photos with her doggo and in the last rays of sunshine. June senior photos in Iowa never miss!
Being a graduate from ISU and having lived in Ames for 5 years, it’s always a joy to get to celebrate a variety of life milestones back on campus. Kayla and Pablo met in Ames, and married at their church across the street from the MU on a beautiful Friday in May. I can’t wait for you to see this sweet wedding day!
You’ll never find me turning down a maternity session- especially for good friends! I can’t wait to watch these two thrive as parents. :)
Meet sweet Eleanor (Nori)! At just under a week old, she may be one of the “freshest” babies I’ve gotten to capture! She was so cozy during this special at-home newborn photo session in Waterloo. I can’t wait to watch her grow!
This sweet early morning session at Ledges State Park never migrated over to this blog, so I’m sharing it (may or may not be 10 years later- oops!). Jackie and I were friends in high school, and it’s been so sweet to look back at our friendship over the past 15 years & count the many times she & Collin have had me photograph them and their growing family. Enjoy these sweet documentary-style engagement photos!
I’m a fan of summertime, golden hour, and wildflowers- and so is Kaitlyn! We had a blast exploring West Des Moines for her senior photos this last month.
These two bring such joy to the people in their world, and it’ll be so much fun to celebrate their love next spring in Iowa City!!
Jacie’s going to be a senior this fall at Pella High- where she runs! She’s pretty good, from all the medals and records she shared with me. We had a fantastically gorgeous night (normally late July is hot and MUGGY) but we got a wonderfully golden hour with perfect temperatures.
My first time in San Diego did not disappoint. You really can’t beat this city, and there’s a reason it’s so beloved by locals and tourists alike! I sure hope to return- and in the next few years, if I can manage it.
