When it comes to wedding photography, there are many factors that can influence your overall wedding experience and can make your special day that much BETTER! That is why I wanted to share the 4 reasons why my engagement sessions are complimentary to my wedding package. I know that some wedding photographers can add this as an additional service, but I truly believe having an engagement session, prior to the wedding day, is a game changer! Having an engagement session prior to the big day makes your wedding day flow easier and of course, provides you with even more AMAZING and genuine photographs, then if you went without, and here’s why:
1. YOU GET TO DISCOVER THAT BEING PHOTOGRAPHED CAN BE FUN!
Most of, if not all, of my couples have never been professionally photographed together before. Often, the last time either of you had photos done was either family or senior photos… maybe even a decade ago! So, this time really is primarily to serve you two :) We’ll brainstorm idea of locations, activities, and outfits to maximize your comfortability and authenticity during our photo session.
It is SO normal to be nervous before the session— which is why we do it! :)
You should have received your wedding welcome guide in the mail before our session. That will help talk you through outfit ideas & prepare you for our time together. After your engagement session, the wedding photos should come naturally, as you remember back to some of the poses we did months prior during our pictures!
2. I GET TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW YOU TWO INTERACT!
During your engagement session, I can watch you + your partner together and find out what makes the two of you unique! How you naturally position yourselves, the dynamics of your conversations, who is more silly or serious, all of that! Once I’m able to learn these sorts of things, I can guide your session and photos to reflect the two of you better. I hope to showcase who you are as a couple & create some intimate, authentic images for you both to treasure.
This is also a HUGE bonus for your wedding photos. I’ll arrive on your big day knowing how the two of you engage each other, what your best poses are, and how to capture you in a real way! The little quirks and details that I learn about y’all during your engagement session are so valuable when it comes to producing authentic wedding images!
3. HEIGHTENS THE EXCITEMENT + ANTICIPATION FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY!
Instead of pouring over spreadsheets and fussing with finances, engagement photos will help you imagine living out your wedding day… at least a little bit! You’ll sneak kisses with your partner in front of my camera, have a few laughs when I give you a silly prompt, and get a better feel for what golden hour could look like the evening of your wedding.
4. MATCHING PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS!
Ideally, your engagement and wedding photos will not just live on phones or computer hard drives… they’ll decorate your bedroom, living space, and home! So, it’s ideal to have both sets match as much as possible… and by having me photograph both, that makes the job easy for you. you’ll just have to order prints and hang them up! You’re welcome. ;)
