Elopements, micro-weddings, and intimate ceremonies have only increased in popularity since 2020 and I’m honestly here for it! I love people and large wedding days, but there’s something special in having the people you really, truly know and want to celebrate with as the only guests at your wedding. Sam and Kyla wanted to elope by a waterfall in Decorah, but decided that they needed to have a ceremony in a slightly more accessible location for family members… so they planned a wedding day at the lovely Roary Reserve in Cedar Falls for September. As fate would have it, the heavens opened all day and created a “water fall” of rain… so in some ways, these two still got their wish of a near-water wedding ceremony!! ;)

They had their kids all involved in the wedding process, as well as their best of friends standing up with them… and after a quick and moisture-laden ceremony, they celebrated with good food and drinks inside the Rotary. Toasts were made, hugs given, dances shared, and the sun alllmost peeked through the clouds at the end of the evening. I’m so glad that Kyla & Sam stuck to their guns with what they wanted, rain and all, and came through with a beautiful day to share with their family, friends, and most importantly… each other. Congrats you two! So glad our team could be there to capture your day. :)
