The classic midwest love story. Boy and Girl start university at one of the local state schools. Boy and Girl meet at university. Boy and Girl fall in love…and plan a wedding and imagine going abroad after together in the peace corps. ;) These two are sweet, tender in love and dreams. I’m thankful to get to capture this season of their life together!
Winter engagement photos are most magical when there’s fresh snow on the ground, or in the air! Sam and Luke met me on a cold day to try something new (a winter bonfire with s’mores!) before heading to a park to embrace the chilly December afternoon. I’m so glad these two crossed paths with me and can’t wait for their Downtown Des Moines wedding in summer of 2026!!

Iowa State University quiets down for a month over winter break, and we took advantage of that to capture some moments of Elizabeth & Zachary on the campus where they met, fell in love, got engaged and are planning their next steps. Please enjoy these lovely winter engagement photos!!

Clara and Duy (pronounced “you-ee”) bring so much depth and joy to any room they enter. These two are genuinely some of the most naturally funny & enjoyable humans I know, and I LOVED getting to hang out with them to capture their relationsip in their first “official” photography session together!
Alli and Clint are fun- they don’t take themselves too seriously, and it’s no surprise to me that they decided to fall in love and get married. ;) I’m so excited to get to hang out with them again this weekend… this time for their WEDDING!! in an airplane hangar, no less. It’ll be amazing!!
This sweet early morning session at Ledges State Park never migrated over to this blog, so I’m sharing it (may or may not be 10 years later- oops!). Jackie and I were friends in high school, and it’s been so sweet to look back at our friendship over the past 15 years & count the many times she & Collin have had me photograph them and their growing family. Snowstorms are fun… but also hard to take photos in! So it was a treat to get to photograph Katie & Eric inside one of my favorite local greenhouses. Bonus: I had to purchase a plant to bring home to thank the shop. ;)

These friends. I miss having them in town, but I’m so glad they’re living life in my hometown and doing some good work and community building there. These photos will always be sweet to me… and hopefully, to them!! We took them just up the road from where Kylie studied at DMU, and honestly I love the Rose Garden in every season…but especially fall. :)
