There’s a Ben Rector song about “old friends” and it may be over-quoted, but the fact is…. it rings true. Kayla and I met our freshman year of college and quickly bonded with how similar we are! Our lives really only overlapped for a few years at UNI, while I still lived in Cedar Falls, but I only have sweet memories with her. I actually was able to do engagement photos for her and Tyler, but was out of state when they got married and so didn’t get to photograph that milestone for them.

Well, here we are, 10 years later— these two have made a sweet life for themselves in Decorah, with two spunky kids. 3 year old personalities can be a lot, but I think we got some really good photos despite the tears and many fruit snack bribes. ;) Kayla and I were able to grab lunch together after the photos wrapped up, and it just warmed my heart so much to catch up right where we left off. The world we live in looks different in many ways, and we both have a few more gray hairs, but our hearts connected just as quickly as they did 15 years ago on that small college campus. <3
