Shifting back into my roots as a photographer has been so fun this year. It’s a little more work (on my and the clients’ parts!) but really pays off when we get a gorgeous evening in nature, exploring Iowa at golden hour and capturing your life in a more authentic way. I care way less now about having that perfectly posed “cheese!” photo …although we still get that!! and value the candid, slice-of-life images. These will be the ones you laugh about in 15 years, that remind you how fun and how HARD it was having a 4 year old with very strong opinions, and what those answered prayers felt like in the early years.

The DZ family is so special to me, David and Suzie were referred to me by my high school friend (and past bride!)’s mom in law. They got married just outside of Cedar Falls on a gorgeous winery lawn, and hosted one of the most personalized and fun wedding receptions that I’ve EVER been to! A daughter was welcomed into their family a few years ago, and she’s lots of sugar + spice!! This year, we incorporated few cute pumpkins, bubbles, and some family reading time snuggled on the coziest blanket.
