Kids bring so much energy and unpredictability to life - and sessions. This one went smoothly and has me wondering if morning sessions are the way to go!? I’m always excited to capture the changing seasons of life, especially for past clients and friends!!! Cedar Falls, I love you. Thank you for letting me use this park one last time. ;)
The Hive at Busy Bee blends elegance and simple midwestern beauty. I loved getting to capture this stunning summer wedding day! Thankfully, the rain stopped in early morning and some clouds provided sporadic relief throughout this muggy July wedding day. This venue is one I hope to be back at for another wedding as photographer in the future!
November weddings haven’t been the most common, but they’re growing in popularity and I honestly love it. The penultimate month has a calm beauty to it, nestled between the heart of fall and the chaos of Christmas. Clara and Duy planned a stunning mid-November wedding in gorgeous Middlebury, Vermont (the town they met and fell in love in) - and it didn’t disappoint at all!
Decided to make the header a fun little behind the scenes photo from my evening with this family! I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since Alex & Andy said vows at the Little Brown Church, and held a backyard reception just blocks away from where they live now with two of the cutest little girls in Cedar Falls:)
Some reflections and remembrances after my first trip to South Korea- you can find the blog post for Japan soon!
June is the prettiest month, and I got to take some photos of the prettiest mama-to-be!! Jasleen brought princess energy to her shoot, just glowing and looking SO stunning. I’m excited to meet baby boy this summer!!
Couples who are comfortable enough to go off the beaten path and plan a unique wedding, like Cat and Drake, make this job as a wedding photographer so fun. These two held a renaissance inspired wedding at the iconic Rollins Mansion, and it was the most stunning day and celebration!!
Anya’s session was everything that we dream about- full of gorgeous golden light, wildflowers, and giggles!
Some of the best engagement photos I’ve taken in sweet Cedar Falls. To be fair…it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to do a session like this here! But I want more— give me allll the CF photographer jobs, please!! ;)
Sometimes, you just need a short session with the kids- to capture the sweet chaos of life with two little humans! Enjoy the S family mini session:)
I always tell people that my favorite kind of session is a senior session- usually, I’m referring to high school senior photography. However, it really is extra special to get to capture University graduates. ESPECIALLY when they’re PHD grads!! SUCH A BIG DEAL!! Congrats to these two Doctors!
Getting to reconnect with friends, past clients or a blend of those makes my job extra special. Miranda (through her friend Haley) had me capture her ISU grad photos years back, and it means SO much that she and Cody asked me to photograph their sweet wedding day! It was a tender affair, with lots of sweet hugs, a few tears, and much laughter.
Any of my past clients can receive a discount this June on updated couple or family portrait sessions!!
Getting creative for your senior photos is just the beginning- the rest of the planning and shooting is SO fun! Here are a few ideas…reach out to me for more! ;)
I love when a session we have scheduled lines up perfectly with the blooming crabapple trees here in Des Moines!! Spring, you’re a wild delight. :)
A snowy but sweet maternity session in West Des Moines with Dalton & Morgan!
Summer evenings- when the sun sets late, the birds and cicadas provide a music (no batteries needed!) and …we can just pretend that bugs don’t exist for this moment in time. ;) Family photos in summertime are my favorite- colorful flowers and grass, blue skies, and the promise of ice cream on the way home!
Des Moines hosts many wonderful parks, and over the past few years- a few indoor studios! I’m thankful to be able to rent space when I need to for headshots. This session was especially fun for me: Megan is a past client!!
Nothing makes a fall wedding better than the sweetest people getting married! This day was full of joy and fun, and I’m a huge fan of this couple!
Benson (or Benny, as most call him!) was born early and enjoyed a long cozy stay in the NICU at Mercy. Once he was good to head home, we got him on the schedule for some newborn photos. He’s such a cutie and did so well during his photo session!!
